(peak) 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Sets

Postby reddirtcoins » Tue Nov 15, 2011 5:15 pm

Well my greed in me say keep them but the profit miser in me says SELL... Looking today it appears we may be peaked (looking at the bay)... So all-in-all my last two sets have gone up and for the sets I sold with those 2 I should come out with a free 2006 and 2011 set plus 60% on my way to a free bag of silver dimes ($100fv). Not too shabby..

Does anyone know the odds of getting a 70 if you send in a set for grading?

Either extremly hard or very easy. This one appears to be a lot harder than easy.

50/50, either you do or you don't. I opened the sets to find them spilled out of their places their boxes. Glad I didn't sumbit for grading.

Lot lower than 50/50. I think its more like 2-3 out of 100. Getting a 69 or 68 might be 50/50.

Looks like they are still going up to me. Yesterday went for 4050. Overnight went for 4150. Maybe today 4250?

I said 50/50 with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Guess I should have added a smiley face. Agreed, odds of getting a 70 are pretty low. Doubftul that any grader has been fired for putting a 68 or 69 on a mint product.

Wow you think only 2-3% of the sets submitted are getting a 70? No wonder there is such a premium. I saw what some of them were going for and it made me start to think about trying to submit some, but not with those odds. dang.

Might not be quite that low but it defintly is below 10%. What happends on the mint products "typically" is that either LOTS of them get graded 70 because the mint did a good job striking or very few get 70's.

PLus dont forget when you see certain sellers with 10 or 20 sets for sale, they probably submiited 100 or more sets, but it is tempting to send them in withing 70 sets going for $4000, but I believe it would cost around $1000 to grade all 5 sets, does anyone know the correct pricing.

I just sold my 5 sets for $4300 shipped, in 10 minutes or so on ebay. I would say if you have sets still sealed, HOLD, especially single sealed sets, they will probably peak around $1000 to $1200

Holy cow, I looked away for a short spell and the pricing is now much stronger than it was a couple of days ago. I'm gonna have to jack up my offer price to 3500. I am not convinced that they will hold at 4300 for very long, but I have been wrong before. Crazy fluctuations right now. Ahhh, when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em?

Absolutely.

All the sets have not even been shipped out yet. What happens when all the flippers are done? Will people not be interested in these? I doubt that. I would have a hard time believing that most of the buying on ebay is end users. The big dealers have not even started selling these yet. We have a small taste of graded set pricing.

Members on here and other sites continue to up there buying price.

It's been 1 week that these have been in hand. I don't need the money to cover these so I will be waiting. So far the box is still sealed. I would like to keep at least 1 but I'm not sure I'm ready to open it yet.

i might be wrong too. We'll see.

Wow!! One sealed US Mint box set just went for nearly $1,100. I really hope I get mine soon. This is getting crazy on the secondary market!

Hope the website doesn't go down.

You know all the serious bidding goes down in the final 10 seconds.

Watch it go for over $5k to a (0) feedback bidder. Then Nate can sweat like the rest of us that are waiting for the mint to ship our order.
