How do you store your collection?

I'm sure this has been asked before on the board, but I'm interested to see how some of you more serious sorters store your stashes. I'm a pretty small hand-sorter and I've been rolling everything copper by year together and storing them in 7.62mm ammo cartons regardless of condition. I've recently thought about pulling out the AU's and rolling them by year and putting the rest of the coppers loose in ammo cans. Thoughts? Thanks!!

Coppers in 5 gal buckets but going to transfer to 55 gallon drums when I move.just bought the drums last week and u should've seen their faces after they asked the question what I was going to do with them lol.
Wheats are going into the 5 gallon buckets.
Canadians go in the big pretzel tubs.

I roll everything and store them back in the boxes with a seperate box for wheats and a sep[erate box for Canadians. I might have to move these one day and figure this will be the easiest. I do not sort out the BU coins.

For me green, ugly, dented- copper is copper will all melt the same

one gallon plastic mayo jars from a restaurant. They go thru 4 or 5 a week.. just wash em good.. they hold 35 lbs CU..

I also store them in ammo cans. If I wasnt a hand sorter, the price of ammo cans would be not worth there ease of mobility. But I like knowing that I could move my stash quickly if needed. I use the smaller ammo cans which hold $50 face or 34.25 pounds of pennies.

Coin lock bags. Was rolling and boxing at first but after I got a coin counter it is faster and a time saver to count out 5O dollars and close it up. Also works for counting up Nickels and bagging them to.
10x15 inch bags I believe are the size I use.

Ditto this. If you're very connected you might be able to get donations from a bank. I accumulated a few like that, but there are several types / sizes of bags, and could not get enough of the best type to matter.

I got the heavy-duty Federal Reserve qualified 6.5 mil 50# max bags from AMPAC at ampaconline.com. (I'm sure you can get equivalent bags from other sources.) They cost a bit extra, but I did this after I had two separate experiences with the lighter weight bags splitting open - one in a parking lot, the other in my storage room. A few extra bucks sure beats picking up thousands of pennies!

I store mine in Fort Knox coin bags, I buy from Banksupplies.com. Great bags they are really tough, I accidentally dropped a bag down my basement stairs, and they were fine.

I just looked at them. Same type of bag as what I got from AMPAC. Heavy mil Fed qualified. At the time I ordered from AMPAC, two months ago, AMPAC was less expensive. 62.88 from banksupplies vs 51.90 from AMPAC. I didn't compare tax and S&H as I didn't want to complete checkout, but AMPAC's total was 65.49. Just something to think about.

If I was doing a do-over, I might rather get the two handled bags, as they are far easier to move, you can get a grip from either end on the shelf, and when you pick up, less stress on each handle.

Deli buckets w/lids from the grocery store in town. Free for the asking.

To the brim they'll hold 51 lbs of coppers and they stack very nicely
and are easy to move around.

I use canvas bags when I want them to be stacked and orderly. I throw them in trashcans when I'm feeling lazy.

I'd like to find more glass for storage, as I'd feel more confident burying them that way, but I'll go 5 gallon bucket or 1 gallon plastic water jug as well for temporary storage. Interesting how everyone has their own unique storage method, some prefer to move/sale them, then most likely piling the spoils back into the same game anyway.

Galvanized sap buckets. They hold 50 pounds of copper pennies with about an inch or two to spare at the top. I plan to place 8 in a 2x4 fashion, place some plywood on top of those 8, and then start another level of 8 on top of the plywood. This is in a very large walk-in closet.

5 gal water bottle from crystal water. If I try to move them, I think they will break open.

I just started a couple of months ago and I now have 5 two liter pop bottles full. Is that an okay way to store them?

Soda bottles should be ok. As long as they're rinsed out and dry.
