I have to get a few of mine in! Once you get to the early 1900s or late 1800s I will be helpless. . .

A couple of 1935 issues. The Fiji penny is MUCH larger than the US cent. But I wanted to show the lamination detail on the cent. Here goes.

No, this thread won't die. I might not get to it very often, but I will continue this for about 200 more years back. Of course, I would appreciate help with it... :D

Well, I have been collecting 1931 coins by date for longer than anything else. That's my Granny's birth year, and collecting coins with her was the start of the whole birth year collections idea (see here viewtopic.php?f=30&t=13865).
My Grandpa has collected coins on and off since the 40's or 50's, and she always went along with him to the shows, and even collected silver ounce bars in years past, when it was neat to see how many different designs she could find each time. Wish she still had all those!
Anyway, she has the binder with all the 31's in it. I think that's all the coins she has any more, and it's been fun when every once in a while, I come across one I haven't gotten her yet, and get to take it over to their house. I actually got her a 1931 British Sovereign a few months ago, and she about fainted. It's the only gold coin in the whole collection. I told her there was only one rule... when she didn't want them any more, she gave them to me... :)

So, having said all that, here are a few of my 1931 coins, from the CANADA binder!

1930. This one was just hanging around because my girls like coins with holes in them.

I've got a few for 1928 if someone wants to take care of 1929...

For your information, folks... just in case you didn't know...
If you see a coin that says MAGYAR, it's from HUNGARY.

And then... from a while back... I had scanned some 1927D cents because I noticed the mint mark really moved around this year.

1926. Here we go. Belgium and Denmark. Two coins with three noticeable similarities. And those similarities are... can you guess? If not, the answer is in white at the bottom of this post. Just select it, and it will show up.

I was thinking about continuing this thread idea indefinitely. Would like some help from others, but it's totally cool with me, too, if you guys just wanna sit back and check out what I can come up with every day or two. Someone please just tell me I'm not wasting my time. And now, for the answer to the mini-riddle:
1. Umm, first of all, they're both 1926. Kind of the point.
2. Neat crown.
3. And yeah... the hole.

Would prefer to keep it one year at a time...
Here's 1925... India and Norway.

1922. Here are some pretty examples from around the world. Australia halfpenny, Czechoslovakia koruna, Greece 10 lepta, and Italy lira. Some of those early 20th century Italian coins are quite cool. My wife likes the old Czech stuff; this copper-nickel example is the first year of the koruna. I would have guessed zinc on the Greek one, but apparently it's aluminum. The lira is a pretty chunk of nickel.
And then you see one of the Lincolns I've paid the most for... this guy originally completed my Lincoln year set. Still have 8 to go for a full set!
