As The Dude says here in Iowa it's $0.05 per can. That's actually a refund of the deposit that one pays when they're buying a six pack or 12 pack of Coke, etc. What's interesting, though, about Iowa is that the cans have to be intact (and not flattened or severely dented). Those that are damaged, can't be read by the machines into which the can stock is dumped. (Counted by the machine and a voucher is issued at $0.05 per). Damaged ones are usually discarded in bins close to the machines. They're pretty much free for the taking. Since I make a trip to Wisconsin 2X per month, I take those to the local recyclers in the area. Take advantage of opportunities that present itself. Can stock is paid at the rate of $0.61/lb.

Only got .60/lb at Trademark in Orlando. If it had not been so late, I would have checked one of the other places.

Bumped to $0.72/lb. My stash is gaining in value every couple weeks by one cent per pound! My significant other doesn't share my enthusiasm, however. Wonder if I have enough to make a small shelter in the back yard.

Keep the stash growing! Imagine if all of us follow your example instead continually dumping aluminum back into the market. Now I know all our situations are different, but maybe we can all set aside a portion every time we visit the scrap yard. Why? Make it more worth the effort than it currently is. I wonder what the price of gold would be now if everyone, including the central banks, kept recycling it a few weeks after it touches their hand?
