As The Dude says here in Iowa it's $0.05 per can. That's actually a refund of the deposit that one pays when they're buying a six pack or 12 pack of Coke, etc. What's interesting, though, about Iowa is that the cans have to be intact (and not flattened or severely dented). Those that are damaged, can't be read by the machines into which the can stock is dumped. (Counted by the machine and a voucher is issued at $0.05 per). Damaged ones are usually discarded in bins close to the machines. They're pretty much free for the taking. Since I make a trip to Wisconsin 2X per month, I take those to the local recyclers in the area. Take advantage of opportunities that present itself. Can stock is paid at the rate of $0.61/lb.
