I have to admit however, I am new to scrapping, and I couldn't tell you what a 110v or 220v wire is. Also, I saw a different post here on RC where someone stated the scrap yards would only take stripped wire, so I experimented with this, and found it to be a poor way to make money. I will have to see if my local yard takes unstripped wires. Man, I really appreciate the time it took to provide this valuable insight.
Ordinary 110 Volt or 220 Volt household appliance wire. (Lamp cords and stuff like that) Air conditioners and clothes dryers have the 220. 220 has three thick strands of copper wire. In some cases aluminum wire.
Christmas lights might not be worth processing. Maybe remove the bulbs throw them in a bucket. Don't walk by 5 Gallon buckets either. They are perfect for classifying your smaller scrap items
I've never heard of a scrapyard that will not buy insulated wire
